Katrin Hornek
Katrin Hornek (AT) is an artist whose work is informed by the changing views on nature. After completing an exchange programme at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen and at CalArts in Los Angeles, she finished her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in 2008. Originally educated as a sculptress, she is interested in looking at shaping-forces and casting-molds that cause social, geological and abstract environments to materialise as forms. Her work in installations, video and photography stages a dialogue between the industrial and digital revolution, often discussing fields of tension between growth and construction, control and uncertainty, geo-engineering and climate change. Since 2012, context specific, curatorial collaborations with Eva Engelbert and Johanna Tinzl are a growing part of her practice. www.katrinhornek.com www.mission-w.net
