Prospecting: A Geological Survey of Greys at Visningsrommet USF
From 5 to 14 May Cecilia Jonsson presents the photomicrographic installation Prospecting: A Geological Survey of Greys at Visningsrommet USF in Bergen. Prospecting: A Geological Survey of Greys is an interdisciplinary art project that appropriates the geological methods of extracting, analysing and categorising mineral specimens. Jonsson worked with mineral prospecting, taking core samples from the 2.5-billion-year-old primary rock in Sør-Varanger municipality outside Kirkenes, in search of the bedrock's shades of grey tones. Supported by Dark Ecology, the first part of the project involved a 170-metre deep diamond rock-core drilling and a site-specific installation presented at Prestefjellet for Dark Ecology in May 2016. More information about the presentation at Visningsrommet USF can be found here (in Norwegian).
