Liza Molodtsova (RU) lives and works in Nikel. She runs the Nikel Art Center and the non-profit organisation Collaboration which organises social and cultural projects such as the Pure Water project in Zapolyarny.

Prospecting: a Geological Survey of Greys is an interdisciplinary, site-specific art project that appropriates the scientific geological methods of extracting, analysing and categorising mineral specimens. In doing so, the project addresses the distinctions between objective scientific methods and subjective influences.

Mikro is a series of improvised collaborative performances between HC Gilje (video) and Justin Bennett (sound) that draws its raw material from the immediate surroundings. Arthur Roeloffzen (NL) designs books, magazines, posters and exhibition graphics for various cultural institutions, including Archiprix, Baltan Laboratories, Centraal Museum Utrecht, Perdu, Utrecht Manifest and Sonic Acts Academy, as well as for artists, architects and designers such as Tal Erez, Aliki van der Kruijs, Serge Onnen and Studio Makkink & Bey.
Nickel van Duijvenboden - Echolocation (Session)
Echolocation (Session) is a new work by Nickel van Duijvenboden. Following his micro residency in Kirkenes, Nickel van Duijvenboden will give a performative reading inside a disused communal space belonging to the Kirkenes mine. Van Duijvenboden blends speech with sound recordings and live instruments in a loosely arranged setting, creating a parallel narrative based on a prior visualization of the location and a psycho-geographical exploration of the surroundings.

Rick Everts
Rick Everts (NL) is based in Amsterdam and is part of the Sonic Acts production team. When not working for Sonic Acts, Everts lectures at the University of Amsterdam’s sociology department, where he graduated with a Research Master’s in Social Sciences, with a specialisation in the sociology of culture and the arts.
Signe Lidén
Signe Lidén (NO) is an artist based in Bergen. Her installations and performances examine man-made landscapes and their resonance. She is interested in how places and their histories resonate: in memory, through narratives and various materials, and as ideological manifestations and political territories.
Zhanna Guzenko (Fridaymilk)
Zhanna Guzenko (RU) is curator and journalist for Fridaymilk. She is currently the head of the Barents Youth Cooperation Office and manages youth project implementation in the High North. Recent projects include UnCapitals, a creative camp for young artists in Olonets, Russia.

At 12 kilometres deep, the Kola Superdeep Borehole is one of the deepest man-made holes on Earth. The Borehole was a Soviet geology research project that started during the Cold War. Justin Bennett created a soundwalk for this abandoned site.
Nikel and Nikel Materiality
Nikel is a small Russian mining city near the border with Norway. It was founded in the 1930s after enormous quantities of nickel were found nearby. At the time the area was Finnish. An infrastructure for mining the nickel was built in the 1930s with help from Canadian companies. Mining operations began in 1940. In 1944 Nikel became part of the Soviet Union after the Red Army defeated Finland.

In the Pasvik Valley, between two pine trees, a few dozen adhesive tape rolls hang in a row. Attached by only a tiny piece of the tape, the rolls are slowly pulled towards the valley ground by their own weight, a process that takes several hours.
