Timothy Morton
Timothy Morton (US) is a professor and the Rita Shea Guffey Chair in English at Rice University, Houston. He is the author of Dark Ecology: For a Logic of Future Coexistence (2016), Hyperobjects: Philosophy and Ecology after the End of the World (2013), Realist Magic: Objects, Ontology, Causality (2013), The Ecological Thought (2010), Ecology without Nature (2007), seven other books and 120 essays on philosophy, ecology, literature, food and music. Timothy Morton - Dark Ecological Chocolate
Dark ecology starts off dark as in depressing. Then it becomes dark as in mysterious. Then it ends dark as in sweet dark chocolate. In this lecture I'm going to provide an experiential map of dark ecology – a phenomenology of dark ecology, to be more precise.

Friday 10 June begins with a lecture by Timothy Morton, who will explain ‘dark ecology’. After this we cross the border to Russia and travel to Nikel. In the evening we will experience Signe Lidén & Espen Sommer Eide’s new soundwalk Altitude & History, set in the hills above Nikel. Jana Winderen’s Pasvikdalen is on show until Sunday.

The journey starts on Thursday 9 October in Kirkenes with a symposium featuring a keynote lecture by Timothy Morton, and several guided walks investigating different aspects of Kirkenes. In the evening the first ‘Secret Chamber’ concert, curated by Ivan Zoloto and Anya Kuts from Petrozavodsk, will take place at a secret location. It features Chikiss, one of the most versatile artists on the Russian electro-indie scene, and slow ambient techno by Sergey Suokas.
